Often times, HappyDoc's default output for a field hits the nail on head but every once in awhile, you need a little extra refinement. Advanced settings help you tweak things so you can get your output *just right.* If you're looking for a Custom Field specific to your practice, reach out to see if this feature is right for you.

Accessing Advanced Settings

From the Custom Document Builder, open a document to edit it (or, create a new Custom Document).

Click to expand a section or a field, then click the carrot next to Advanced Settings to expand the Advanced Settings panel.

Displaying Titles and Output

The 2 toggles to display or hide title and otuput enable you to control whether your field is displayed like a section header (show title, hide output) or whether it's shown as content only (hide title, show output).

This control is useful, for example, if you want to call out specific questions asked during the History portion of the exam, but keep the section title Subjective.

Alternatively, titles for the HappyEmail template are hidden, for example, so that only the output will show as new paragraphs.

Choosing when to display the content captured in the transcript

When conducting an exam, you don't necessarily say out loud exactly what should appear in your medical record. For example, you might say "Fluffy's heart sounds great, no concerns there" rather than "No murmur or arrhythmia auscultated." Choosing when to display the discussed value vs a "normal value" is critical to ensuring your output reflects everything you need it to.

If discussed = Display discussed value always

When "Display discussed value always" is chosen, there is no option for default or "normal value" output. HappyDoc will output the value of that field regardless of whether that value is normal or abnormal. This is the default setting for all fields outside of the physical exam.

For example, if Fluffy is a female border collie that weighs 55 lbs, you would want that value in your Weight field, even if the AI determines that 55 lbs is "abnormal" for a female border collie. If the field is not discussed during the recording, for example, if you didn't say the temperature out loud, HappyDoc simply displays "Not mentioned."

If discussed = Display discussed value only if abnormal, otherwise use normal value

When "Display discussed value only if abnormal, otherwise use normal value" is chosen, there is an option to define a default or "normal" value. The value entered here is what HappyDoc will display if the AI the determines that the field is within the bounds of normal. For example, let's say that you define a normal value for the Cardiovascular field as "No murmur or arrhythmia auscultated." During the exam, you say out loud to the pet owner "Fluffy's heart and lungs sound great, no concerns there." HappyDoc will display "No murmur or arrhythmia auscultated."

However, if during the exam you comment that you can hear a slight murmur, Fluffy has a Grade 2 heart murmur, you can expect HappyDoc to display "Grade 2 heart murmur."

Adding custom instructions for the AI

If your account has been given access, you may also see the option to add Custom Instructions for individual fields. This area can be used to further refine the instructions given to the AI and account for details specific to your practice. If your account does not have access to custom instructions, please reach out via in-app chat to discuss your use case.

For example, maybe you like to see weight in both lbs and kg. Or, maybe you prefer that a pet owner always be referred to as a "client." These are perfect use cases for custom instructions.

Note: Instructions apply ONLY to the specific field with which they are associated. Instructions at the section level will not apply to fields within that section.

If you are still looking for adjustments to your output, you might need a Custom Field. Reach out to us to explore if this is the right option for your practice.
