How the connections work
Most connections do two things: they bring your appointments into HappyDoc, and they send finished notes back into the patient's record. How that happens depends on whether your practice system runs on your own server or in a browser.
Practice system | What we do | How it connects |
Cornerstone | Appointments in, notes back | Software on your practice server, set up with you by our team |
Avimark | Appointments in, notes back | Software on your practice server, set up with you by our team |
Impromed | Appointments in, notes back | Software on your practice server, set up with you by our team |
ezyVet | Notes back only | Chrome extension. Your ezyVet calendar doesn't sync into HappyDoc today. We're working on it. |
Shepherd | Notes back only | Chrome extension (can do appointments as well with direct connections but will require api setup in shepherd reach out to support for this) |
Covetrus Pulse | Appointments in, notes back | Chrome extension for sending notes, used on the Pulse exam form |
Vetspire | Appointments in, notes back | Direct connection. |
DaySmart | Appointments in only | Direct connection |
Using something not on this list? You can still use HappyDoc for everything up to the finished note, and bring appointments in from a file. Tell us which system you use, because what customers ask for is what gets built next.
Setting one up
For Cornerstone, Avimark and Impromed, the connection runs on the computer that hosts your practice database, and our technical team sets it up with you. There's nothing for you to download or configure on your own. Tell us when you're ready and we'll arrange a time.
For ezyVet and Shepherd, everyone who sends notes installs the HappyDoc Chrome extension on their own computer. See the guide for your system. The extension sends notes into your practice system but doesn't bring your calendar into HappyDoc, so you start a visit by typing the patient name. Calendar sync for ezyVet is in development. 👉 Watch the Shepherd walkthrough
For Pulse, everyone who sends notes installs the HappyDoc Chrome extension and uses it on the Pulse exam form. Your Pulse appointments still come into HappyDoc, so you can pick the visit from your schedule. 👉 Watch the Pulse setup video
For Vetspire, there's nothing to install at all.
Troubleshooting / FAQs
Q: Do notes include charges or billing codes?
A: No. HappyDoc writes the medical record. Charges stay in your practice system.
Q: Can I change the date a note was filed under?
A: The note files under the date it was sent across, and that can't be changed afterwards. If the visit date matters, put it in the document title.
Q: Two pets in one appointment. Can both notes export?
A: Yes, one at a time. Enter both names as "Stormy and Fluffy" when you record, then export each document separately.
Q: Nothing is syncing and nothing is exporting.
A: Both directions failing together usually means one connection problem rather than two, and it's ours to fix. Just send us a message, no need to work through settings.
